Celebrate 100 Years of Scouting a Stokoe Farm in Scottsville

Stokoe Farms recognizes the strong foundation of leadership, service, and community for America’s youth. We celebrate this legacy and commit ourselves to inspire and prepare future generations.

Discounted Admission Includes:

  • Only $6 per person – a $9.25 value
  • Includes general admission – for youth members and their immediate family members
  • Youth members receive a FREE small pumpkin
  • One 1 group leader FREE

Please call to register your group or complete/submit our event form. It will make your check-in process smoother and faster.

Harvest Barn reserved seating:

  • Have a special eating and meeting place for your group or family!
  • Reserved seating is from 10 am – 1:30 pm or 2 pm – 5:30 pm, but you are welcome to enjoy all the Farm activities during our regular hours 10 am until 6 pm.
  • Each table is 14 feet long and seats about 18 adults. Seating is on real straw bales, and the tables are covered with red and white checked tablecloth.

Cost is $25 per table. Payment is required at the time of booking the reservation. The payment is refundable only if canceled at least two 2 weeks prior to the reservation. If it rains you may reschedule. We accept cash, check, or credit card.

*General admission is not included in table reservation fee.

Pick up your FREE Passport, grab the kids, and head out for a hike today. The Finger Lakes Trail Conference, in conjunction with Wegmans, Monro Muffler Brake, Eastern Mountain Sports, and Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort, has produced a free 44 page booklet highlighting 12 family-friendly hikes on the Finger Lakes Trail. The hikes range in length from about 1 to 5 miles and are located between Letchworth on the west and Interstate 81 on the east.

The booklets can be picked up at Wegmans (the ones within the area listed above) or Eastern Mountain Sports (at the moment…more outlets to be listed on the Finger Lakes Trail website soon). A PDF of the booklet is also available by clicking here.

The goal of the Passport Program is to attract NEW hikers, and especially families. Grandparents…consider taking your grandkids for a walk. A patch and other incentives are bring offered for those to complete at least 4 of the 12 hikes.

GirlScouts : Summer Camp 2010

Girl Scout camp applications can be found in your camp brochure. Send your completed camp application form with payment to the Council Service Center as directed on the form. Please note: The Early Bird discount is available until April 16, 2010. When paying for your camp session(s) please remember to deduct all applicable discounts.

You will receive in the mail an order number for your registration along with an invoice. Final payments are due no later than three (3) weeks prior to your camper’s session date.

Parents please print all forms listed in the confirmation packets below for the camp that your daughter plans to attend. Complete and bring all forms from the camp confirmation packet with your daughter on her first day of camp.

We all are looking forward to a safe and exciting summer!

Summer Camp | Piperwood Aug 9, 9am – Aug 11, 5pm, 2010

For girls who aren’t ready to spend overnights or can’t because of sport commitments the option of a one overnight or just attending during the day will be available. Lodges for younger girls and A-frames older girls.

Program will consist of things like crafts, boating, nature, hikes, outdoor cooking, wet activities to cool off in summer heat, campfires, singing, games etc.

Cost will be $50 for the whole program or $40 for the day or one overnight option. Aides from the previous Dogwood camps will be $25. Cost will cover camp rental fees, food, paper, postage and program expenses.

Volunteers are needed that can spend the entire time or some part of it. Childcare will be provided during the daytime hours and a minimal charge to cover food.

Wednesday for closing at 5pm we’ll offer an optional family event……………come look over the camp, have a hot dog dinner at 6pm with campfire & singing before leaving. Cost $5 per family.

For leaders needing their outdoor camping training, I’d like to offer troop camp 1 and/or troop camp 2 during the 3 days. You’ll have to let me know if you are interested.

There will be no transportation supplied but we’ll try to help with carpooling if necessary.
There will be a registration packet and additional info sent to anyone wishing to come.

Wicked Can Be So “Wickedly” Fun…In NYC! July 11-16, 2010

Spend the week adding glitter and elbow grease to what it takes to become a rising star. Learn some of the “ins and outs” of the theatre– maybe try your hand at set design, make-up, designing costumes and more. Spend Tuesday and Wednesday of this special week traveling to NYC to see the Broadway production of Wicked and partake in a “Broadway Classroom” with professionals from the cast of Wicked. You will recreate a true Broadway rehearsal taken right from a scene of Wicked. Time will be left to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island along with a little shopping. Swimming, arts and crafts, s’mores, laughter and friends are also included. Girls and parents must attend a pre-trip orientation meeting scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2009, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Girl Scout Service Center. Additional information will be sent at a later time.

Girl Scout Fee: $350 per person (fee includes camp photo)
Non-Girl Scout Fee: $390 per person (fee includes camp photo)

The meal: Spring Mix with Marcona Almonds & Goat Cheese served with authentic Stracciatella Soup.

Caribbean Party (2 hr hands-on class)
Hey “mon,” put on your tropical shirts and get ready to host a tropical party right in your own home. Come feel the breezy inspiration as our island-style dinner party featured in the Winter ’08 issue of Wegmans Menu Magazine comes to life.  Our chef shows you how to make all the dishes, while giving you tips to do them right.  In this hands on class we will enjoy Shrimp on Flavored Skewers, Caribbean Black Bean Soup, Tropical Fruit Salad, Slow Roasted Jerk Pork, Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey, Jasmine Mango Rice and Roasted Bananas with Brown Sugar Rum Sauce.

Adventures in Asian Cuisine (2 hr hands-on class)
Executive Chef Mark Makovec just got back from Thailand, where he learned even more about Asian cuisines. He’ll be sharing his passion for Pan-Asian cuisine in this hands-on class cooking Asian classics like Thai Chicken Dumpling Soup, Eggrolls, Spicy Noodles with Gai Lan and Chicken.

South of the Border Party (2 hr hands-on class)
Learn new ways to give your meals new flavor excitement! Executive Chef Mark Makovec will teach us in this hands-on class Hispanic-Central American dishes like Corn Bread Pudding, Slow Roasted Achiote-Rubbed Pork, Sofrito Rice, and Butternut Squash Mole.

RMSC Girl Scout Camp-Ins for 1st Q 2010

Rochester Museum and Science Center The cost of all camp-in programs at the RMSC and Strasenburg Planetarium is $30 per scout and $10 per adult. Scouts must be chaperoned by an adult.

The camp-in programs include experiments, related activities, and all requirements for a badge. The cost of the program does not include the badge.

The programs also include an evening snack and breakfast the following morning. Please eat dinner before arriving.

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required for all camp-ins.

Junior Computer Fun Badge Workshop

Participants should complete activity No. 1 of the Computer Fun badge prior to attending the program. Girls will design a newsletter, take apart a computer to see how it works and learn about engineering design as they construct an efficient and effective virtual bridge.  They will interact with Society of Women Engineers (SWE) students and professionals to learn about engineering and computer careers.  Girls will earn the Computer Fun badge and receive a SWE patch.  The badge is not included.  A Snack is provided.

Whether it’s your first or 24th visit, the Wildlife Festival offers new experiences. Learn how to make a difference in our environment, improving our planet both for wildlife and our neighbors. Annual favorites from reptiles to primates and birds of prey will be joined by new animals, shows and attractions scheduled throughout each day.

Brownies, Cub Scouts, Boy and Girl Scouts can even earn a special Wildlife Festival badge.

Sample some of the more than 50 interactive exhibits about hydroelectricity and the historic role it has played in the Niagara Frontier. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Niagara River gorge from the observation deck.  And when it’s time to satisfy your hunger, you can pick from local youth groups hosting various concessions.
